New Life in Our Monastery
During the month of November, Sophia Sarember
visited our monastery for a "live-in" experience. This is
a time for discernment of a vocation to our monastery and our life of
prayer. At the end of this time, both Sophia and our community decided
that she will return in March, 2012 to begin her postulancy as a Poor
Clare of Montana. Several other women are planning such discernment
visits with us.
Monastery Helpers
On November 30th our gathering room was
filled with a group of people from Holy Spirit Parish who volunteered
to come and help us stuff envelopes for our Advent/Christmas mailing.
The women and one man worked tirelessly and the work was completed so
that it could be taken to the post office around 3:00PM. We are grateful
for their help and enjoyed so much having them come. The time was punctuated
with conversation and laughter.
Christmas Reflections
We
went to Holy Spirit Church for a 7:00 Christmas Eve Mass. As it turned
out there were eight baptisms at this Mass. What a beautiful way to
celebrate the birth of Christ into our world. Each of the infants and
their families represented the newborn Christ. On Christmas morning
Bishop Warfel came to celebrate the Christmas Day Liturgy with us. Our
crib in front of the altar and our nature tree in the entryway reminded
us of the wonder of the Incarnation in our lives. Each one of you, our
friends and benefactors, was remembered in the Eucharistic celebration.
On Christmas evening we gathered in our community room to open gifts
sent by benefactors and our own exchange of gifts for the sister whose
name we drew at the beginning of Advent. How grateful we are to all
who make our lives here possible!
Daily
Mass in the Monastery Chapel
We are pleased that there is now daily
mass in our chapel at 7:00 A.M. on Monday through Thursday and 11:30
AM on Fridays. All are invited to join us if these are convenient times
for you.
Those
Who Used our Gathering Room and Chapel Recently
During the last
few months we have hosted a number of groups in our gathering room and
chapel. Besides the children who have come for days of prayer with their
teachers, there have been a number of adult groups. In addition to diocesan
personnel, people from local parishes, and Secular Franciscan meetings
some non-Catholic church groups have also come for prayer and reflection.
